Computer Infrastructure at IRMACS
The IRMACS computing environment consists of over 90 desktop computers. The IRMACS computing environment also consists of a 5 TB high-performance Network Appliance fileserver on which researcher's data resides. A high-performance Gigabit per second, non-blocking Ethernet network connects the entire IRMACS computing infrastructure.
All of the desktop computers are centrally configured, providing IRMACS users with consistent access to software and their data across all computers, both in the labs and in the IRMACS meeting rooms. Each desktop computer has a range of research-oriented software installed. In addition to these research tools each computer has a full suite of software development tools.
IRMACS also runs a wide range of servers that researchers can utilize for installing and running software and hosting web servers and services.
